Jakub Hanák

Jakub Hanák (born March 26, 1983 in Uherské Hradiště ) is a former Czech rower .

Hanák won the bronze medal in double sculls at the Junior World Championships in 2000 together with Ondřej Synek , and in 2001 he and Jakub Litera received the silver medal. In 2002 Hanák and Litera competed together with David Kopřiva and Jakub Stencl in double fours and finished ninth at the world championships . After two fourth places and a second place in the 2003 World Cup , David Kopřiva, Petr Vitasek , Jakub Hanák and David Jirka won the silver medal behind the German double four at the World Championships in Milan . In the 2004 World Cup, Hanák took third place twice with a double quad, and in the final of the Olympic Games in Athens the Russians won ahead of the Czechs with David Kopřiva, Tomáš Karas , Jakub Hanák and David Jirka.

In 2005 the Czech quadruple finished twice in second and once in third place in the World Cup , while Milan Doleček , Václav Chalupa , Jakub Hanák and David Jirka rowed to fourth place at the World Championships in Gifu . After a disappointing 2006 with Michal Horváth in double sculls, Hanák returned in 2007 to double sculls. In the 2007 season, the Czech double scull took two medals in the World Cup; at the World Championships in Munich , Petr Vitasek, Tomáš Karas, Jakub Hanák and David Jirka finished fifth. At the end of the 2007 season Hanák started at the European Championships in Poznan and was European champion with eighth place. After the results in the 2008 World Cup were significantly weaker than in previous years, the Czech double foursome with Vitasek, Doleček, Hanák and Jirka missed the A-final at the 2008 Olympic Games and finished in tenth place. With Karas for Doleček, the Czech quadruple finished fourth at the European Championships at the end of Hanák's career.

The 1.93 m tall Jakub Hanák rowed for Slavia Prague and Dukla Prague .
