Tomáš Karas

Tomáš Karas (born May 16, 1975 in Prague ) is a former Czech rower .

The two-meter-man from Dukla Praha took ninth place with the Czech eighth at the 1993 rowing world championships in the Czech Republic . At the U23 World Championships in 1995, he came fourth with the double scull . Also in the age group under 23, Karas won the silver medal in double sculls with Michal Parik in 1996, and in 1997 he reached fourth place with Michal Cigler. In 1998 the two finished eleventh in the adult class of the World Championships . Karas achieved his best placement to date at the rowing world championships in 2000 with the sixth place in the four with helmsman .

At the 2001 World Championships , Karas was in a double scull and finished eleventh. Two years later, Karas was also eleventh at the 2003 World Championships with eighth . In 2004 Karas returned to the four-four , who won the silver medal at the 2004 Olympics behind the Russian and in front of the Ukrainian boat in the line-up of David Kopřiva , Tomáš Karas, Jakub Hanák and David Jirka . At the 2006 World Rowing Championships , Karas and Jirka from the boat from 2004 were also part of the crew that took fifth place in the quad sculls. Also at the 2007 World Rowing Championships , Karas achieved fifth place with the double scull. In 2008 Karas finished fourth at the European Championships with the Czech double foursome .
