Miroslav Januš (born August 9, 1972 in Benešov ) is a former Czech sports shooter .

successes

Miroslav Januš, who was active for Dukla Plzeň, took part in four Olympic Games . In 1992 in Barcelona , starting for Czechoslovakia, he finished ninth in the competition on the running target over 10 m. In his second participation, then for the Czech Republic, at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , he moved into the final as third in the qualification with 580 points. With a further 98.4 points in the final, thanks to 678.4 total points, he was third behind Yang Ling and Xiao Jun and received the bronze medal. In 2000 in Sydney he again reached the finals, but did not get past eighth and thus last place. Four years later he took 15th place in Athens .

At world championships , Januš won a total of 22 medals between 1994 and 2016. He was world champion nine times: in 1994 in Milan he was victorious in the team competitions running boar mixed run, running target and running target mix. In the latter discipline, the next title win followed in 1998 in Barcelona. In 2002 in Lahti he was once again world champion in the mixed run with the team in the running boar , and for the first time in 2006 in Zagreb in the team competition in the running boar. Two years later in Pilsen he won the gold medal in the team competitions in the running boar and in the running boar in the mixed run. He secured his last world title in the mixed run in the running boar 2012 in Stockholm with the team. In addition, Januš won eight silver and five bronze medals. He achieved his best result in individual by winning four runner-up world championships in various disciplines. Januš was European champion ten times in various individual disciplines.

Januš is married and has two children.
