The Český olympijský výbor (ČOV) is the National Olympic Committee in the Czech Republic with its seat in Prague .
history
On May 18, 1899, the committee was founded at the instigation of Jiří Stanislav Guth-Jarkovský and recognized by the IOC . While Czech athletes competed at the Olympic Games first under the Bohemian flag and then from 1920 to 1992 under the Czechoslovak flag, after the founding of the Czech Republic on January 1, 1993, the first Olympic participation took place at the Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer . In 1996 it made its debut at the Summer Games in Atlanta . In Czechoslovak times the committee was called Československý olympijský výbor .
