The Comité national olympique et sportif français (CNOSF) is the National Olympic Committee in France with its seat in Paris .
history
In 1894, the Comité olympique français (COF) was founded by several people around Pierre de Coubertin , who was the association's first president. At the Olympic Games in Athens in 1896 , France took part in the Olympic Games for the first time . On May 23, 1908, the Comité national des sports (CNS) was founded, which from 1913 worked closely with the COF. Such was Justinian de Clary both associations from 1913 president. After the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 , the two associations divided their areas of responsibility, with the COF subordinate to the CNS: while the COF was responsible for the interests of the French delegation at the Olympic Games, the CNS took care of the interests of all member associations. At Winter Games France took the first time in 1924 in Chamonix in part. Due to the statutes of the IOC , the COF and the CNS were initially independent from each other from 1953, before the two associations finally merged on February 22, 1972 to form today's Comité national olympique et sportif français (CNOSF).
