history
On April 23, 1922, the committee in Riga was founded and then took in 1924 on the occasion of the Olympic Winter Games in Chamonix for the first time at the Olympic Games in part. This was followed by four participations in summer games and two more in winter games before Latvia lost its independence to the Soviet Union under the Hitler-Stalin pact . From then on, Latvian athletes took part in the Olympic Games under the Soviet flag. On November 19, 1988, the LOC was reactivated by representatives of all Latvian sports organizations, and Vilnis Baltiņš was elected President. After the Soviet Union collapsed and Latvia regained its independence, the IOC re-recognized the LOC on September 18, 1991 .
