The Komiteti Olimpik Kombëtar Shqiptar (KOKSH) is the National Olympic Committee in Albania , based in Tirana . A total of 26 professional associations for Olympic sports, including 24 summer and two winter sports, are members of the KOKSH.

history

In 1958 the National Olympic Committee was founded under the name Komiteti i Këshillit të Përgjithshëm të BFSSH (in German about "General Committee of the Union of Fiskultura Practitioners and Sportsmen of Albania"), which it led until 1989. Official recognition by the IOC took place in 1959. In 1972 Albania made its Olympic debut at the Summer Olympics in Munich , although the second participation did not take place until 1992 in Barcelona . In 2006 Albania took part in the Olympic Winter Games for the first time in Turin .
