The Slovenský olympijský a športový výbor (SOŠV) is the National Olympic Committee in Slovakia with its seat in Bratislava . A total of 43 professional associations for Olympic sports, including 34 summer and nine winter sports, are members of the SOŠV.
history
On December 19, 1992, the National Olympic Committee was founded in Bratislava, its first president was Vladimír Černušák . The official recognition by the IOC took place in September 1993. The SOŠV is one of the two successors of the Czechoslovak Committee, from which the National Olympic Committee of the Czech Republic emerged . In 1939 the first Slovak Olympic Committee was founded, which was dissolved again in 1947. 1994 saw the first participation in the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer . Two years later, Slovakia also took part in the Summer Olympic Games for the first time in Atlanta . In 2015 Slovakia participated in the first European Games in Baku .
