←ategoria e Parë 1960

The Kategoria e Pare 1961 (mutatis mutandis: First League ) was the 24th staging of the Albanian football championship and was the National Football Association Federata Shqiptare e Futbollit aligned. It was the last season that was played within the calendar year.

Season course

As in the previous year, the league comprised ten teams. 1960 was Lokomotiva Durres relegated from the Kategoria e Pare. For 1961, Traktori Lushnja rose. The defending champion was KS Dinamo Tirana .

The championship was played in a regular season with a round trip. Each team competed twice against each other team. The two bottom of the table were relegated to the then still second-rate category e dytë . The champion moved into the European Cup . The next season of the league began only in mid-1962 due to the changeover to the multi-year game rhythm.

A total of 243 goals were scored, which corresponds to an average of 2.6 goals per game. The top scorer with 17 goals was for the second time in a row Panajot Pano from FK Partizani Tirana .

At the end of regular time, Partizani Tirana and defending champion Dinamo Tirana were tied at the top. Since the direct comparison had also ended in a draw, both had to play a playoff for the championship. For the second time in a row, 17 Nëntori Tirana finished third behind, but already seven points behind. Labinoti Elbasan came in fourth, and Flamurtari Vlora came fifth . Skënderbeu Korçë and Besa Kavaja secured themselves three points ahead of relegation as did newcomer Traktori Lushnja . Vllaznia Shkodra was only one point behind the saving bank . Tomori Berat was last . But at short notice, the two clubs that were actually relegated were allowed to stay in the league because the Albanian Football Association decided to increase the division to twelve teams for 1962/63.

    Decision game for the championship

Tied leaders Partizani Tirana and Dinamo Tirana fought a decider for the title in Tirana. But after it was still 1-1 after two extensions, another decisive match was scheduled. But even in this one did not want to make a decision. Only in the third extension of the game was Partizani able to prevail 1-0 and thus won the eighth championship. This made the club the country's sole record champion again and had the honor of being the first club to represent Albania in the European Cup .
