The Category Superiore 2001/02 (meaning: Highest League ) was the 63rd edition of the Albanian football championship and was organized by the national football association Federata Shqiptare e Futbollit . As in the previous year, the season was held with 14 teams. The season began on September 21, 2001 and ended on May 25, 2002.

Season course

Also this season the clubs from the capital dominated. Dinamo Tirana and SK Tirana fought head-to-head. The derby on the third last match day was decisive. After the 2-2 draw, Dinamo maintained their lead in the standings with one point and could not be taken away.

Partizani Tirana finished third after a year in the second division and entered the UEFA Cup . Defending champion Vllaznia Shkodra , however, only finished fifth.

KS Luftëtari Gjirokastra did not use the victories on the last two match days and had to relegate like Tomori Berat .
