The Superiore 2006/07 (also Kampionati Shiqptar ) was the 68th edition of the Albanian football championship and was organized by the national football association Federata Shqiptare e Futbollit .
The season was played with two additional, a total of twelve clubs, compared to the previous year . The championship was played in three rounds of eleven games each. It started on August 26, 2006 and ended on May 19, 2007.
Season course
After eleven match days, it looked like a three-way battle between KF Tirana , Teuta Durrës and KF Elbasani . In the second round, the defending champion managed only three wins from the eleven games, which meant that he said goodbye to the title race. Last year's champion only finished the season in seventh place.
KF Tirana led the league from matchday five and won the championship five points ahead of the surprise runner-up Teuta Durrës , who almost had to relegate last year.
Runner-up champions Teuta Durrës and Besa Kavaja as cup winners qualified for the UEFA Cup , while the third-placed player played in the Intertoto Cup .
For Luftëtari Gjirokastra the victories in the last two games of the season came too late; the southern Albanians had to go into the second class like fellow promoted Apolonia Fier .
