The Kategoria e Pare 1995/96 (mutatis mutandis: First League ) was the 57th staging of the Albanian football championship and was the National Football Association Federata Shqiptare e Futbollit aligned. The season began on September 2, 1995 and ended on May 8, 1996.
Season course
Compared to the previous year, the league had increased from 16 to 18 teams and thus included more participants than ever before in Albanian football history. In season 1994/95 was KS Iliria Fushe-Kruje relegated from the Kategoria e Pare. For the new season KS Kastrioti Kruja joined after a two -year absence , KF Skënderbeu Korça after a three -year absence and KS Sopoti Librazhd after a one-year absence. Dinamo Tirana had renamed itself KS Olimpik Tirana before the start of the season . The defending champion was SK Tirana .
The championship was played in a regular season with a round trip. Each team competed twice against each other team. A point rule introduced this season said that a home win earned two points, as before, an away win three. Unlike in the previous year, when only the last placed team had to relegate to the then still second-rate category e dytë , this time the two bottom of the table were relegated. Champions and runners-up made it into the UEFA Cup .
A total of 679 goals were scored, which corresponds to an average of 2.2 goals per game. The top scorer with 21 goals was Altin Cuko , who played first for FK Tomori Berat (five goals) and then for KF Laçi (16 goals).
With SK Tirana , a club was able to defend its championship title for the first time in seven years - in 1988/89 this was also last achieved by the capital city, then under the name 17 Nëntori . In a tight decision, they secured the sixteenth championship in the club's history with only one point ahead of Teuta Durrës , who finished second for the second time in a row, and were thus able to call themselves the sole record champions of Albania again. The basis for this was mainly the seven away wins, most of them in the league. There were also no changes in third and fourth place compared to the previous season: Partizani Tirana was ahead of Flamurtari Vlora . They were followed by Olimpik Tirana and Apolonia Fier , Besa Kavaja and newly promoted Sopoti Librazhd , who sovereignly secured the league. In another very close relegation battle, Shkumbini Peqin , Vllaznia Shkodra and Albpetrol Patos were able to save themselves with a fairly comfortable point difference, while KS Laçi , KF Elbasani , Tomori Berat , Shqiponja Gjirokastra and Skënderbeu Korça each only got one point ahead of the first relegation rank exhibited. This was taken by newcomer Kastrioti Kruja , who had to say goodbye to the first class - just like the bottom of the table Besëlidhja Lezha , who was already four points behind the saving bank and after three seasons in theategoria e Parë back into the categoria e dytë had to get down.
