Mark Scanlon
Mark Scanlon (born October 10, 1980 in Sligo ) is a retired Irish cyclist .
In 1998 Mark Scanlon became Irish Junior Champion. A little later he beat in the World Cup in Valkenburg , among others, Filippo Pozzato in the final sprint. He finally got a place with Linda McCartney in 2001 , after having been a stagiaire there the previous year . However, the team broke up before the start of the new season. In 2002 Scanlon then drove to Ag2r Prévoyance for a test and also got a professional contract for the following season. In his first year there he became Irish champion and won a stage of the Tour of Denmark . At the Tour de France 2004 he made his debut with an 89th place in the overall standings. In 2007 he moved to the lower-class Toyota-United team , but ended his career there after only one year at the age of 27.
