Joe McCormack (born 1926 in Birr ; † September 9, 2010 in Dublin ) was an Irish cyclist .

1951 Joe McCormack became Irish road racing champion . In 1953 he finished eighth in the overall ranking of the Tour of Ireland . In 1959 he took part in the road world championships in Zandvoort .

After the end of his active cycling career, McCormack worked for the Irish Cycling Federation and participated in the organization of the Tour of Ireland , for which he initiated a junior edition. He worked for the company of former cycling friend Karl McCarthy , who traveled to many World Championships and Olympic Games and took McCormack with him at his expense. He also worked as a coach and accompanied the Irish team to the UCI Road World Championships in 1987 , where Stephen Roche became world champion.

In 2013, Joe McCormack was inducted into the Hall of Fame for the Irish Cycling Federation. His two sons, Alan and Paul, were also well-known racing cyclists.
