Peter Doyle (cyclist)

Peter James Doyle (born November 26, 1945 in Wicklow ) is a retired Irish cyclist .

In 1968 Peter Doyle won three major Irish cycling races: the Amateurs Road Championship , the Tour of Ireland and the Route de Chill Mhantain (now the Shay Elliott Memorial ). In the same year he started at the Olympic Games in Mexico City in the individual road race, which he did not finish. In the following years he won various races in his home country, in Great Britain and in France. In 1972 he started a second time at the Olympic Games, but could not take any top places in Munich either. In 1973 he again won the one-day Shay Elliott Memorial race . In 1974 he won the Irish stage race Rás Tailteann .
