Billy Kerr

William "Billy" Kerr (born February 26, 1945 in Ballymena ; † August 14, 2012 in Ballymena ) was an Irish cyclist .

The Northern Irishman Billy Kerr was almost exclusively active as a cyclist in his home country. There he won almost all important competitions: For example, the Irish Sea Tour of the North in 1978 and 1979 , the Shay Elliott Memorial in 1978 and the Sealink Race . In 1980 he won the overall ranking of Rás Tailteann . In 1981 and 1982 he won the Tour of Ireland and 1983 the Tour of Ulster .

Twice - 1978 and 1982 - Kerr started for Northern Ireland in the Commonwealth Games. In 1978 in Edmonton he finished 22nd in the road race, four years later in Brisbane he was fourth in the individual time trial .

In 1980 Kerr started the road race at the Olympic Games in Moscow and finished 41st.
