US President Barack Obama throws the ceremonial first pitch.

ceremony

The anthem " The Star-Spangled Banner " was sung by Sheryl Crow . The ball for the ceremonial first pitch was presented to US President Barack Obama by Hall of Fame member Stan Musial . The throw went in the direction of the winner of the All-Star Voting Albert Pujols .

Sara Evans sang " God Bless America " during the seventh-inning stretch .

The Canadian national anthem " O Canada " was only played as an instrumental version through the stadium speakers. Since this type of presentation attracted little attention, Canadian player Justin Morneau later criticized the ceremony. To make matters worse, the broadcasting television station FOX placed a commercial break during the Canadian anthem.
