He started the 2005 season with the Toledo Mud Hens, where he averaged .290, hit 15 home runs, 65 RBI and stole 22 bases.

Detroit Tigers

In September 2005 Granderson was called up to the Detroit Tigers in the Major League, where he hit an Inside the Park Home Run and a Walkoff Home Run as well as a 5-hit game in his first month. In 2006 he received the regular seat of the Center Fielder. In the 2007 season he was first named Player of the Week by the MLB. On September 7, 2007 he achieved 20 doubles, 20 triples and 20 home runs in one season and thus became a member of the so-called 20-20-20 club, which at that time only had five other players: George Brett (1979 ), Willie Mays (1957), Jeff Heath (1941), Jim Bottomley (1928) and Frank Schulte (1911). Two days later, Granderson stole 20th base that season, becoming only the third member of the so-called 20-20-20-20 club alongside Willie Mays (1957) and Frank Schulte (1911). With a total of 23 triples, he led the MLB in 2007.

On February 4, 2008, Granderson signed a five-year contract with the Tigers for $ 30.25 million. Due to an injury, he was only able to compete for the Tigers in April. He achieved a batting average of .280, 13 triples and 22 home runs over the course of the 2008 season, reduced the number of strike-outs significantly (from 174 in 2006 to 111) and scored 71 walks. In the 2009 season he was elected to the All Star Team. Overall, he achieved a batting average of .249, 91 runs, 23 doubles, 8 triples, 30 home runs, 71 RBI and 20 stolen bases in 160 games that year.

New York Yankees

In December 2009, Granderson was transferred to the New York Yankees in a three-team trade . On April 4, 2010, he hit his first home run for the Yankees.

Granderson had his best season with the Yankees in 2011 . In 156 games he got 136 runs and 119 RBI and he won the Silver Slugger Award . Despite slightly poorer values, he was invited to the All-Star game again in the 2012 season . In the 2013 season , Granderson only made 61 appearances for the Yankees after breaking his little finger on May 24 after a hit by pitch from Tampa Bay's relief pitcher Cesar Ramos. He then had to undergo an operation and was not back on duty until August 2nd.

New York Mets

On December 6, 2013, Granderson agreed with the New York Mets on a lavish four-year contract, thus settling his move to city rivals for the New York Yankees for the 2014 MLB season .

In the 2015 season , Granderson reached the post season with the Mets . To date he has been active twice in the ALDS and once in the ALCS with the Yankees. In the 2015 NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers , Granderson contributed five RBIs in game 3 and one run to the Mets' success in game 5. In the subsequent NLCS 2015 against the Chicago Cubs , which the Mets clearly won 4-0, he managed 4 runs and 2 RBI. In Game 1 of the 2015 World Series , Granderson hit a home run against the Kansas City Royals . He was able to repeat this in game 3 and managed two more runs in addition to the home run. In the decisive game 5 of the series, he managed to run two more runs, including another home run. However, these two were the only runs of the Mets in this game that lost the game with 2: 7 and thus the World Series.

Los Angeles Dodgers

At the end of the 2017 season, Granderson joined the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Toronto Blue Jays

For the 2018 season, Granderson signed a one-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays .

Milwaukee Brewers

Private life

Off the field, Granderson serves as the ambassador for Major League Baseball International. In August 2009 he published his book All You Can Be: Dream It, Draw It, Become It! . In the 2007 and 2008 postseason he was a commentator for TBS television with Cal Ripken, Jr. , Dennis Eckersley and Frank Thomas .
