Roberto Clemente Award
The Roberto Clemente Award is a prize for baseball players that has been presented annually by Major League Baseball (MLB) since 1971 . There are excellent players that best baseball game by fairness , community involvement and positive contributions, both on the field and off it, best represent ( who best darstellt the game of baseball through sportsmanship, community involvement and positive contributions, Both on and off the field ).
From its introduction in 1971 to 1973, the MLB called the Comissioner's Award . In 1973 the award was renamed the Roberto Clemente Award in honor of the baseball player Roberto Clemente . Clemente died in a plane crash in 1972 while trying to deliver relief supplies for earthquake victims in Nicaragua .
Every year the MLB teams propose one of their players for the Roberto Clemente Award . A jury, with fans having their own vote via online voting, selects the winner. This will be announced during the World Series .
