Carlos Iván Beltrán (born April 24, 1977 in Manatí , Puerto Rico ) is a former baseball player in Major League Baseball . He played in the position of outfielder . He made his Major League debut on September 14, 1998 in the jersey of the Kansas City Royals , where he played until 2003, after he was drafted by this club in 1995 in the 2nd round.
On July 26, 2011, Beltran was traded to the San Francisco Giants . In return, the New York Mets got the minor league pitcher Zack Wheeler.
In Game 2 of the play-offs against the Washington Nationals , Beltrán got two home runs . This was his third postseason game with more than one home run. The other two get 1 time each for the New York Mets and the Houston Astros . This makes him the third player to reach this mark. Babe Ruth did the feat 4 times (all in the World Series for the New York Yankees) and Manny Ramirez (two for the Cleveland Indians and one for the Boston Red Sox ).
On December 19, 2013, Beltran signed a $ 45 million 3 year contract with the New York Yankees.
