history

T-Mobile Park

The Seattle Mariners are from the city of Seattle , Washington state , where they were founded in 1977. The team has played their home games at T-Mobile Park since 1999 .

On November 26, 2004, Nintendo of America bought the 54 percent share of former Nintendo Co. Ltd chairman Hiroshi Yamauchi , who had bought it in 1992 to save the team from bankruptcy. Even before the purchase of the Yamauchi shares, Nintendo of America owned some shares in the Mariners, but the exact amount is not known. On August 23, 2016, Nintendo reduced its stake by 44% to 10%.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the number of players in the active squad at the beginning of the 2020 MLB season on 23/24. July increased to 30 players. Two weeks later there was a scheduled reduction to 28 players. Another two weeks later, the number of players is to be reduced to 26 and maintained for the entire 2020 season. In the case of double-headers , the teams may appoint a 27th player to the active squad.
