Josh Beckett (born May 15, 1980 in Spring , Texas ) is a retired American baseball player in the MLB . He played in the pitching position . In October 2014, Beckett officially announced his retirement from active sports. Most recently he was under contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers .
With the Florida Marlins Beckett was able to win the World Series 2003 and was then chosen as the MVP of the series . In 2007 he won the World Series again, this time wearing the Red Sox jersey.
On August 25, 2012 Josh Beckett was given to the Los Angeles Dodgers in a swap along with first baseman Adrian Gonzalez , left fielder Carl Crawford and utility player Nick Punto .
On October 7, 2014, Beckett announced his resignation.
