Juan José Soto Pacheco (born October 25, 1998 in Santo Domingo ) is a Dominican baseball player on the position of outfielders . He currently plays for the Washington Nationals in the National League (NL) of Major League Baseball (MLB). In 2019 he won the World Series with the Nationals .

Career

Minor Leagues

Soto signed his contract with the Washington Nationals in July 2015. 2016 he played for the Gulf Coast League Nationals in the Gulf Coast League and was there with a batting average of .368, five home runs and 32 runs batted in (RBI) for Most Appointed Valuable Player (MVP) of the Season. He was then promoted to the Auburn Doubledays in September 2016 , where he played the last six games of the season.

In 2017 he started for the Hagerstown Suns at single-A level, but was recalled to the Gulf Coast League Nationals due to an injury . Nevertheless, in the run-up to the 2018 season, Soto was considered one of the most promising young talents. After starting the season again with the Suns, he was promoted early to the Potomac Nationals , an A-Advanced affiliate of the Washington Nationals. After just 15 games with the team, he was promoted again and played eight games for the Harrisburg Senators at Double-A level. On May 20, 2018, the Nationals called him to the MLB due to an injury to their outfielder Howie Kendrick.

Washington Nationals (2018-present)

Making his MLB debut on May 20, 2018, Soto became the youngest player in MLB at the time, at 19 years of age and 207 days, and one of the youngest MLB players of all time. In his second game on May 21, 2018, he managed his first home run in the MLB right on his first plate appearance . This also made him the youngest player with an MLB home run in the history of the Washington Nationals franchise . In June 2018, Baseball America magazine named him the Nationals' Best Young Talent. After the 2018 MLB season, he played for the MLB All-Star Team in the 2018 MLB Japan All-Star Series .

In the season 2019 he won with the Washington Nationals , the World Series in 2019 after the team in seven games against the Houston Astros had prevailed.
