William Stanley "Bill" Mazeroski (born September 5, 1936 in Wheeling , West Virginia ) is a retired American baseball player . Mazeroski, whose nickname "Maz" was, played his entire career (1956-72) with the Pittsburgh Pirates in Major League Baseball .

Maz was an integral part of the Pirates' victories in the 1960 and 1971 World Series . In 2001, Mazeroski was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame .

Mazeroski is best known for his home run in the 1960 World Series, with which he decided the seventh game and thus the series. This is still the only game and series decisive home run in game 7 of a World Series.
