Bernard Rajzman (born April 25, 1957 in Rio de Janeiro ) is a Brazilian sports official and former volleyball player .
Career
Athletic career
Rajzman began playing basketball for Fluminense when he was eleven . Due to his relatively small height, he switched to volleyball. At the age of 17 he was part of the Brazilian national team for the first time . With her he took part in three Olympic Games. The greatest success was winning the silver medal at the 1984 Summer Games in Los Angeles.
He also won the South American Championship seven times , the gold medal at the Pan American Games in 1983 , silver at the 1982 World Cup and bronze at the 1981 Volleyball World Cup .
On October 27, 2005 he was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame as the first Brazilian .
Sports policy
After finishing his sporting career, he switched to politics. He was National Secretary for Sport in the Collor government and from 1994 a member of the Partido Progressista Brasileiro (PPB) in the Assembléia Legislativa do Rio de Janeiro , then he switched to the Partido da Social Democracia Brasileira (PSDB).
Rajzman is a member of the Comitê Olímpico Brasileiro (COB) and President of the Comissão Nacional de Atletas . He has been a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since October 2013 .
He is the father of the surfer Phil Rajzman .
