Pan American Games 1975

The VII. Pan American Games were played from October 12th to 26th, 1975 in the Mexican capital Mexico City . The city hosted the Games for the second time since 1955.

Originally, the Chilean capital Santiago was entrusted with the organization. However, difficulties in financing and political unrest forced the organizers to give up. Then São Paulo was named as the host. Financial problems and the outbreak of a meningitis epidemic resulted in the return of the Games on October 17, 1974. On October 19, 1974, the PSO finally named Mexico City as the host.

The central competition venue was the Aztec Stadium . The most successful nation was the United States with a total of 247 medals.
