Ivan Ivančić

Ivan Ivančić (born December 6, 1937 in Grabovica, Tomislavgrad , † August 28, 2014 in Zagreb ) was a Yugoslav shot putter .

Life

In 1969 he was eighth at the European Indoor Games in Belgrade and in 1970 seventh at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Vienna . At the Olympic Games, he retired in 1972 in Munich and 1976 in Montreal in the qualification. At the Mediterranean Games he won gold in 1975 and bronze in 1979.

He won bronze at the European Indoor Championships in 1980 in Sindelfingen and in 1983 in Budapest . At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 he was twelfth. Seven times he was Yugoslav champion.

Ivan Ivančić was a coach at AK Agram; he also trained the Croatian discus thrower Sandra Perković .

The Hanžeković Memorial shot put competition has been named after him since 2014.
