Ace Rusevski
Ace Rusevski ( Macedonian Аце Русевски ; born November 30, 1956 in Kumanovo , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a former Yugoslav boxer.
Amateur career
In 1974 he was after defeat in the final against Zoran Jovanović from Serbia, Yugoslavian runner-up in the featherweight division. In the same year he took part in the 3rd European Junior Championships in Kiev , where he won the bronze medal in the featherweight division. In 1975 he was Balkan featherweight champion.
In 1976 he was after defeat in the final against Dragan Milenković from Croatia, Yugoslavian runner-up in the lightweight and won the Balkan lightweight championships. He also took part in the lightweight at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal , where he was able to achieve the bronze medal. He defeated Gerard Hamill from Ireland, Roberto Andino from Puerto Rico, Reinaldo Valiente from Cuba and Yves Jeudy from Haiti, before losing to the outstanding American Howard Davis in the semi- finals.
In 1977 and 1978 he was the Yugoslav lightweight champion and in June 1974 in Halle he was also the European lightweight champion. He beat Turkey's Hasan Oğuz (5-0), Poland's Ryszard Tomczyk (5-0), German René Weller (5-0) and in the final Christian Zornow from the GDR (5-0).
1979 and 1980 he was Yugoslavian light welterweight champion. He was also a participant in the European light welterweight championship held in Cologne in May 1979 , where he was defeated by the German Karl-Heinz Krüger on points in the first fight . In September 1979, however, he was able to win the 8th Mediterranean Games in Split in the light welterweight division .
In 1980 he took part in the light welterweight division at the Summer Olympics in Moscow , but could not reach the medal ranks. After victories against Margarit Atanasow from Bulgaria and Boualem Belaouane from Algeria, he moved into the quarter-finals, where he lost 2: 3 to the Italian and later gold medalist Patrizio Oliva . Then he switched to the professional camp.
Professional career
As a professional boxer, he fought in France, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia, Italy, Germany, Canada, Puerto Rico and Denmark. In his fifth fight he defeated the former Italian champion Luciano Navarra by knockout in the third round, and in March 1983 the former German champion Tony Habermayer on points. After winning 14 development fights, he unexpectedly lost to the Dominican Felix Reyes on points. After seven more fights, including one defeat and three draws, he played his last boxing match against Bobby Jones on June 23, 1987, which he won on points.
