Yugoslavia first took part in the 1920 Olympic Games . Before that, many athletes from Yugoslavia competed for Austria-Hungary . A small team of Serbian athletes took part in the 1912 Summer Olympics.

Yugoslavia participated under three different teams:

Croatia and Slovenia competed as independent teams for the first time at the 1992 Winter Games, Bosnia and Herzegovina at the 1992 Summer Games . All former members of Yugoslavia were represented at the 2008 Summer Olympics , except for the former autonomous province of Kosovo , which made its debut at the 2016 Summer Olympics gave.
