The Yemeni Arab Republic , also known as North Yemen, was represented at the Summer Olympics from 1984 to 1988 .
history
North Yemen first took part in athletics competitions with two male athletes in 1984. It was the first time a Yemeni state took part in the Olympic Games. In 1988 the field of participants was increased to eight athletes, who now also competed in judo and wrestling.
In 1990, the Yemeni Arab Republic (North Yemen) merged with the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen (South Yemen) to form the reunified Yemen , which first appeared at the Olympic Games in 1992.
