Oman , whose NOK , al-Ladschna al-ulimbiyya al-ʿumaniyya , was founded in 1982 andrecognizedby the IOC in the same year, has been participating in the Summer Olympics since 1984. So far, no athletes have been sent from Oman to the Winter Games. Young athletes from the country were represented at both of the youth summer games held so far.
Overview
Summer games
The first Omani Olympic team, which competed in Los Angeles in 1984, consisted of track and field athletes, marksmen and sailors. Other Omani boxers (from 1988) as well as cyclists and swimmers (from 1996) took part.
The first Omani Olympians were the marksmen Juma Al-Rahbi and Ali Al-Ghafiri on July 29, 1984. Oman's first woman at the Olympic Games was sprinter Butheyna Al-Yaqoubi on August 16, 2008.
The best result was in 1988 Mohamed Amer Al-Malky in athletics. He reached the final over 400 meters and finished eighth.
Youth games
At the first Youth Summer Games in Singapore in 2010 , two teenagers, a boy and a girl, competed in athletics and horse riding. A medal that is not included in Oman’s medal balance was won by show jumper Sultan Al-Tooqi, who won the silver medal in the mixed team Australasia with his horse Joondooree Farms Damiro . In 2014 in Nanjing , three teenagers, two boys and one girl, took part in athletics and beach volleyball.
