The Chad , the NOK , the Comité Olympique et Sportif Tchadien , founded in 1963 and 1964 by the IOC was recognized for the first time took part in 1964 Summer Olympics. In 1976, Chad joined the call to boycott the Montreal Games and in 1980 the Moscow Games. So far, no athletes have been sent to the Winter Games. Medals have not yet been won.
Overview
The first Chadian Olympic team in Tokyo in 1964 consisted of two athletes. The country's first Olympic athlete was the 800-meter runner Ahmed Issa on October 14, 1964. 1972 in Munich a boxer competed for the first time. Chad followed calls for boycotts from African countries and the USA and stayed away from the games in Montreal in 1976 and Moscow in 1980 .
In the further course of the Olympic Games, Chadian participants were unsuccessful. In 1992 in Barcelona judoka competed for the first time. The first Chadian woman competed in the Olympic Games in Barcelona. Rosalie Gangué started the 800-meter run on July 31, 1992, becoming the first female Olympian in her country. Between 1996 and 2008 only track and field athletes took part.
