The NOK of South Vietnam , the Uỷ ban Olympic Việt Nam , was founded in 1951 and recognized by the IOC in the same year . From 1952 to 1972, 39 South Vietnamese athletes, including two women, competed in the Summer Olympics. Participation in the winter games was waived. No medals were won.
The youngest member of a South Vietnamese team in 1964 was the swimmer Nguyễn Ðình Lê , who competed at the age of 15. The oldest team member was Ho Minh Thu , who was 43 years old , in 1972 .
