Bruno Sotty's first racing car was the racing version of the Renault Dauphine

Bruno Sotty (born November 1, 1949 in Chablis ) is a former French racing driver .

Career in motorsport

Sotty began motor sports while he was still studying law (which he did not graduate). Starting with 1969, he ran for nearly a decade, especially hill climb . His first racing car was a Renault Dauphine . In the 1970s he won several French mountain championships. He was particularly successful with his own construction based on a Lola chassis. He celebrated almost 50 overall or class wins with this vehicle. Other cars were a Chevron B21 , a Toj SC206 and the two Lola racing car models T296 and T298 .

In 1977 he switched to circuit racing and made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans that same year . Between his debut in 1977 and his last start in 1989 , he competed twelve times in the 24-hour race in western France. His best placement in the overall standings was tenth in 1982 ; driven out on a Rondeau M379 with partners Lucien Guitteny and Pierre Yver . In 1980 he won the class for sports cars up to 2 liters.

In 1985 he won the drivers' overall classification of the French Group 6 championship and ended his active career as a driver in 1989 after the 480 km race at Spa-Francorchamps .
