Duncan Mackenzie

Duncan Mackenzie (born May 17, 1861 in Aultgowrie, Scotland , † August 25, 1934 in Pesaro , Italy ) was a Scottish archaeologist . He worked with Arthur Evans on the excavation and exploration of the Palace of Knossos in Crete, the center of Minoan culture .

Life

Duncan MacKenzie studied at the University of Edinburgh and the University of Vienna , where he received his doctorate in classical archeology under Otto Benndorf in 1895 .

He then worked for the British School at Athens with David George Hogarth and Arthur Evans in Phylakopi . He then worked with them in Knossos.
