The Gotha District Office was an administrative district in the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and in the Free State of Saxe-Gotha from 1858 to 1922 . Most of its area today belongs to the district of Gotha in Thuringia .
history
The Duchy of Saxony-Coburg and Gotha in the German Empire was divided into independent cities and district offices in 1858. In addition to the three independent cities of Gotha , Ohrdruf and Waltershausen , the three district offices of Gotha, Ohrdruf and Waltershausen were formed in the Gotha part of the country, the Duchy of Saxony-Gotha . In addition to the area around Gotha, the exclaves Körner and Werningshausen also belonged to the Gotha District Office .
In 1918, the Duchy of Saxony-Gotha became the Free State of Saxony-Gotha , which in turn became part of the new state of Thuringia on May 1, 1920 . During a comprehensive regional reform on October 1, 1922, the Gotha District Office was dissolved:
- The communities of Bittstädt, Eischleben, Haarhausen, Holzhausen, Ichtershausen, Molsdorf, Rehestädt, Sülzenbrücken and Thörey came to the new district of Arnstadt .
- The exclave Körner with the communities Hohenbergen, Kleinkeula, Körner, Menteroda and Obermehler came to the new district Sondershausen
- The Werningshausen exclave became part of the new Weimar district .
- The community Siebleben was incorporated into the independent city of Gotha.
- All other communities came to the new district of Gotha .
