Illeben is a district of the town of Bad Langensalza in the Unstrut-Hainich district in Thuringia .

geography

The village is located in the valley of the Herzbach , which has its source at Grumbach to the west and flows into the Tonna at Nägelstedt , shortly before it flows into the Unstrut . Illeben is located 3.65 km southwest of the market in Bad Langensalza on the L 2125 leading to Aschara and Wiegleben . Illeben is located with its district in the arable farming area of the Thuringian Basin . The flat, undulating terrain is fertile and has a positive effect on the mild, low-precipitation climate.

history

The place was first mentioned in a document between 780 and 802. The place belonged to the sub-care of the Tonna rule , which from 1677 belonged to the Duchy of Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg as "Amt Tonna" .

In 1822 a major fire destroyed large parts of the town and brought economic hardship. The situation only improved from 1855 onwards with the establishment of a public welfare organization and a spinning mill.

On January 1, 1992, the place was incorporated into Bad Langensalza. In 2015 there were 257 residents registered in the village.

District Mayor

The district mayor of Illeben is Michael Fischer.

Culture and sights

Buildings

  • The church of St. Trinity houses a two-manual organ with 12 registers and a neo-Romanesque prospectus from the workshop of Gustav Koch . It replaced an organ made by Johann Christoph Thielemann in 1716. The parish belongs to the Gräfentonna parish.
  • At the confluence of Oberdorf / Henningsleber Weg there is an old stone cross made of limestone with a height of 80 cm. The cross had disappeared for a long time and was broken in 1986 about 20 m northwest of the current location on the corner of a garden plot, whereby it protruded only a little from the earth. It was then excavated, secured and restored. It was then erected in March 1987 at its current location.
