Henningsleben is a district of Bad Langensalza in the Unstrut-Hainich district in Thuringia .
Geographical location
Henningsleben is located about 4 kilometers south of Bad Langensalza (market church), 15 kilometers north of Gotha (old town) and about 29 km (as the crow flies) northwest of the state capital Erfurt . The place lies with the neighboring Grumbach in the eastern slope area of the Große Harth on a deeply incised brook, which is fed by two sources in the Grumbacher Flur and which is strengthened east of Henningsleben by the runoff of the Katzenborn. The stream, now called Herzbach , flows eastward in the valley to Illeben . South of Nägelstedt the stream flows into the Tonna , 550 meters before it flows into the Unstrut . The highest point in the vicinity of the village is the “Rote Berg” to the north.
On the eastern edge of the town, the B 247 runs between Gotha and Bad Langensalza. The paved field path Illeber Weg leads straight from the B 247 to the northeast to Illeben, about 3 kilometers away. From the same point, the L 2125 (formerly K 103 ) runs as a village main road through the locality, on the one hand to leave it to the south in the direction of Wiegleben, on the other hand, now again as K 103 and as Sackstrasse , to lead to Grumbach.
history
In 1211 the place was mentioned for the first time as Hennigsleuben and should change its name a few times. From 1378 to 1506 the place was called Henningisloiben , until Henningsleben was finally reached. Henningsleben played an important role in the battle of Langensalza against the Prussians in 1866. The place belonged to the Electoral Saxon Office Langensalza until 1815 and after its cession to Prussia from 1816 to 1944 to the district of Langensalza in the province of Saxony . Until 1945 in Henning life lived Squire family judges whose mansion demolished in 1947 and the material obtained for the edification of settlement houses for the displaced persons was used. In 1952, the second agricultural production cooperative of the former GDR (after that in Merxleben ) was founded in Henningsleben .
