history

In the Hersfeld Monastery register of properties , the village appears among the donations made by Charlemagne to the monastery until the death of its founder Lullus in 786. In 2011, Aschara will celebrate its (at least) 1,225th anniversary. In 932, Heinrich I exchanged the village for other possessions to the abbot of Hersfeld Monastery. The lords of Aschare gave the place to the lords of Salza (Bad Langensalza) and these (probably around 1410) to the lords of Gleichen . 1634 came the place with the rule Tonna as a result of a succession contract to the Baron von Tautenburg and Frauenprießnitz and after his death in 1640 to the Count of Waldeck . Aschara fell to Duke Friedrich I of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg through a purchase contract of 1677 . In the north of the village there is a hill, on the south side of which wine was grown in the Middle Ages, but with poor yield. The elevation is now cut through by the railway line to Bad Langensalza, the western part is the vineyard with a height of 268 m on which a Dutch windmill from 1848 stands, the eastern part is called Wartberg .

On January 1, 1994, Aschara was incorporated into Bad Langensalza.

Buildings

  • Church
According to Beck , there was a small chapel above the village, probably on the vineyard , of which remnants could still be seen in the 18th century. A linden tree was planted on the square. The church, which was built before the Reformation (before 1517), had to be demolished in 1748 due to its dilapidation. The foundation stone for the construction of the St. Petri Church was laid on May 28, 1749. Inside the church you can see the organ created by the organ builder Johann Valentin Nößler in 1750 .
