Wiegleben is a district of the city of Bad Langensalza in the Unstrut-Hainich district in Thuringia .

geography

Wiegleben is the highest district of the town of Bad Langensalza. It is located 7.2 km south of the city across from Ashara . Via a local road, the village has a connection to the federal highway 247 coming from Bad Langensalza to Gotha . The district is on the edge of the Thuringian Basin . There is hardly any forest in the intensely used, undulating arable landscape. The climate is mild and has little precipitation.

history

786–802 was the first documentary mention of the village of Wiegleben. In the 11th century the village belonged to the Landgraves of Thuringia. In 1347 it was given to the Lords of Salza . They had their headquarters on the Dryburg in Salza. From here they managed goods in Aschara, Eckardtsleben , Zimmer and Wiegleben as fiefdoms. After the Lords of Salza died out, everything fell back to the Thuringian Landgrave. Then there was a constant change of owners. Wiegleben already belonged to the Gotha office in 1421 , which from 1640 belonged to the Duchy of Saxe-Gotha , from 1672 to the Duchy of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg and from 1826 to the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha . In 1918 the village was subordinate to the Free State of Saxony-Gotha and from 1920 to the State of Thuringia . After 1945 the agriculture of the village went through the development in the GDR. After the fall of the Wall, new forms of land management were found.

On September 1, 1993, it was incorporated into the town of Bad Langensalza. At the end of 2015, 354 people lived in the place.
