history

There was already a settlement in the local area in the Stone Age. The village was first mentioned on May 18, 876. At first it was also called Wenigen-Vanre. Like Großfahner, Kleinfahner was acquired in 1434 by the knight Thilo von Seebach . From then until 1945 the estate was owned by the von Seebach family. From 1640 the place was part of the Fahner rule under the sovereignty of the Duchy of Saxony-Gotha and Saxony-Gotha-Altenburg .

1791 is the year of birth of cherry cultivation on the Fahner Höhe. It was Johann Volkmar Sickler who founded Fahner's fruit growing, supported by Friedrich Wilhelm von Seebach, the landlord of Klein- and Großfahner. Sickler was the pastor of Kleinfahner from 1770 to 1820. He published a 22-volume work "Der deutsche Obstgärtner".

In 1806 French troops devastated the Fahner district. Fruit growing was also badly affected. In 1822 the von Seebach jurisdiction decreed that bride and groom had to plant a fruit tree when they entered the marital status.

On April 9 or 10, 1945, US troops occupied the place. At the beginning of July 1945, the Red Army replaced the Americans as the occupying power. Like all of Thuringia, the place became part of the Soviet Zone . The manor with an agricultural area of 122 hectares was immediately confiscated by the SMAD . The von Seebach family was expropriated without compensation in autumn. Werner Freiherr von Seebach (1873–1956) and his wife Elisabeth were expelled from the manor house in January 1946 and were permanently banned from staying in the village and the Gotha district. They lived in Erfurt until their death. In 1947/48 the - architecturally valuable - manor house of the manor was demolished. The village population had to take part.

The 1950s brought the forced collectivization of agriculture for new and old farmers. In 1974 (1976?) The 1100th anniversary of the place was celebrated.

After the fall of the Wall, new homes were built and important infrastructure measures were taken. Kleinfahner was revived as the "Pearl of the Fahner Höhe". A village community center with a Thuringian fruit growing museum is built.
