Kleinkeula is a district of the municipality of Menteroda in the Unstrut-Hainich district in Thuringia .

location

The village is 445 meters above sea level on a plateau bordered by forest to the north in the direction of the fence . A limestone quarry also adorns the area south of the Dün forests . history

Kleinkeula was first mentioned in a document on July 15, 1270 (minori Kula). The community reports that it was first mentioned in 955, but this is not documented. The name goes back to Kuhle . The construction of the village began near a depression in the area with a spring. The place was devastated in the Peasants' War and then rebuilt with funds from the Elector. The new church was built in 1885. The previous building from 1725 was built after the Thirty Years War . The parish village of Kleinkeula belonged as an exclave to the Amt Volkenroda and from 1869 to the district court district Tonna of the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and on December 1, 1880 had 81 inhabitants in 15 inhabited buildings.

As of December 31, 2010, 96 residents lived in the village. On August 1, 1996, the previously independent communities of Kleinkeula, Menteroda, Sollstedt and Urbach formed the new unified community of Menteroda.
