Tomás Saldaña

Tomás Saldaña Ruiz de Velasco (born March 23, 1961 in Bilbao ) is a former Spanish racing car driver .

Racing career

Tomás Saldaña was active as a sports car driver in the 1990s and 2000s . In addition to starting the Interseries in 1991 , he made his first international appearance in the 430 km race in Mexico , a race in the 1991 World Sports Car Championship . With partner François Migault he reached the station - Cougar C26S tenth place in the overall standings. After a few years of racing in the Interseries , Saldaña switched to GT racing and only drove in the BPR Global GT Series and from 1997 in the FIA GT Championship . In the last years of his driving career, which ended with the end of the 2006 season, he was involved in the Spanish GT Championship .

Tomás Saldaña achieved four overall and four class wins in 78 races between 1991 and 2006. He competed seven times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans . The best place in the final ranking was eleventh overall in 1994 .

After the end of his driving career, he worked for Eurosport Spain as a motorsport commentator.
