Watkins Glen 6 Hours 1981

The 6-hour race of Watkins Glen 1981 , also Glen Six Hours of Endurance, Budweiser / SCCA Can-Am, Robert Bosch / VW Super Vee (14th Annual Glen Six Hours of Endurance), Watkins Glen Grand Prix Circuit , took place on 12 July in Watkins Glen and was the eleventh round of the Sports Car World Championship this year.

The race

The eleventh round of the sports car world championship in 1981 ended after 940 kilometers with a one-two victory for the Lancia works team . Riccardo Patrese and Michele Alboreto won in their Lancia Beta Montecarlo ahead of their brand colleagues Andrea de Cesaris and Henri Pescarolo . Third was Bob Garretson , who shared the cockpit of a Porsche 935K3 with the two multiple Indianapolis 500 winners Rick Mears and Johnny Rutherford .
