Dave Heinz
David "Dave" Heinz (born October 16, 1934 , † March 10, 1992 in Hillsborough ) was an American racing driver .
Racing career
Dave Heinz achieved some success in monoposto sports in the 1960s and 1970s . In 1970 he won the overall classification of the SCCA National Championship Formula A on a Lola T142 .
Heinz became internationally known as a GT and sports car driver . He drove his first club races as early as the late 1960s and competed regularly in the SCCA sports car championship in the 1960s . He was active as a driver until 1987. He was present at 86 racing events and achieved five overall and five class wins. For many years he was involved in the IMSA-GT and the IMSA-GTP series . In 1973 he finished third overall in a Chevrolet Corvette with his partners Bob Mclure and Dana English in the Daytona 24-hour race and fourth overall in the Sebring 12-hour race in 1972 . This fourth place was also the victory in the GT class over 2.5 liters. He also achieved a class win at Le Mans in 1972 .
