Nick Faure (born May 28, 1944 ) is a British entrepreneur and former racing car driver .

Education and Entrepreneur

Nick Faure attended the Stowe School in Buckingham and came to Switzerland in 1962 to study at a business school. Through his father, who always drove unusual vehicles, he came into contact with motorsport at an early age . These particular automobiles included a Jensen 541S , a Mercury Comet, and the Bristol 405 , 406, and 407 models .

His connection to the automobile brand Porsche came about during his apprenticeship in Switzerland; triggered by the sports cars of wealthy parents of his fellow students. His first Porsche was a Porsche 356 75 Super Cabriolet .

In the 1970s he worked in Fleet Street as a graphic designer for various media and founded a trading company for Porsche models in Witley in the 1980s . Since then he has been known as Mr. Porsche in Great Britain .

Career in motorsport

Nick Faure was already fascinated by racing as a teenager . Whenever he knew his idol at the time, Stirling Moss , he would ride a bike from his parents' house to the Silverstone circuit . His brother Howard, who competed in rallies in the early 1960s, brought him to active racing . Faure bought a Mini Cooper S and competed with his brother on the Castle Combe Circuit . He also celebrated his first successes on a Mini Cooper when he won the British Mini Championship with it in 1965 . In 1967 he bought a Porsche 911 that was owned by Porsche Cars UK . Vic Elford took part in British rallycross events. The car was financed with the proceeds from the sale of his grandmother's valuable stamp collection . With the Porsche he was involved in the British Touring Car Championship , where he met top international drivers such as Frank Gardner and Brian Muir .

In Great Britain he became one of the most famous Porsche pilots and competed with many Porsche racing cars in various national championships until the end of his career. Although he was registered internationally for the first time at the end of the 1960s - with the Targa Florio - his international career only got underway with the Le Mans 24-hour race in 1975 . Faure drove a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR with a 3-liter boxer engine . With his partners Jean Blaton (who had also reported the car) and John Cooper , he reached sixth place in the overall standings. It was the first of ten outings at Le Mans. It had its last start in 1985 when it finished eleventh overall in the Emka C84 / 1 together with Tiff Needell and Steve O'Rourke .

Originally, a race in Le Mans was also planned for 1986 . After the birth of his first child, however, he decided not to do what he saw as a dangerous race. After that he only competed sporadically in car races and finally retired from professional racing after the 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps in 1989 .
