Richard Down

Richard Down (* 1961 ; † 2003 ) was a British racing car driver .

Racing career

Richard Down was active as a touring and sports car driver in the 1970s and 1980s . He contested the Le Mans 24-hour race four times . In 1977 he made his debut and was not classified with his partners Ian Harrower , Martin Birrane and Ernst Berg on a Lola T290 / 4S due to a lack of sufficient laps. He reached his only finish in 1980 when he crossed the finish line in a Ferrari 512 BB LM together with Steve O'Rourke and Simon Phillips in 23rd place overall.
