The 6-hour race of Vallelunga 1976 , also Trofeo Ignazio Giunti, 6 Ore di Vallelunga, Vallelunga , took place on April 4th at the Autodromo Vallelunga . The race was the second round of the sports car world championship this year.

The race

With the 6-hour race on the track in Campagnano di Roma was World Sportscar Championship in 1976 continued. The renewed duel between the works cars from Porsche and BMW ended, as at the season opener in Mugello , with a clear overall victory for the Porsche team Jacky Ickx and Jochen Mass . At the finish, her Porsche 935 had a 16 lap lead over the fastest BMW 3.5 CSL , driven by Sam Posey , Harald Grohs and Hughes de Fierlant
