Albrecht Krebs
Albrecht Krebs (born August 14, 1943 ) is an architect and a former German racing driver and today's entrepreneur.
Career
Albrecht Krebs began his racing career with a BMW 2002 TI in touring car motorsport in the late 1960s . In 1969 he won his first class win in the T1.6 class at the 300 km race at the Nürburgring.
In 1970 and 1971 he drove in the European Touring Car Championship and in the German Automobile Circuit Championship (DARM). With the replacement of the DARM by the German Racing Championship (DRM) in 1972 , he started there with a Ford Escort RS 1600 and Alfa Romeo 2000 GTAm in the 2nd division. He drove in the DRM for a total of eight years until 1979. During his DRM starts, he drove many other well-known racing cars, from a Ford Capri RS 2600 to the BMW 3.0 CSL , BMW 2002 Turbo and the BMW 320i . He celebrated his greatest racing success in the 1975 DRM season, when he reached 3rd place with a Schnitzer BMW 3.0 CSL and only just missed out on overall victory due to a retirement in the last race of the season at Hockenheim.
In 1976, Krebs drove a full season in the sports car world championship for the BMW Schnitzer team in a BMW 3.5 CSL . There he achieved his first victory in an endurance race in the 1000 km race on the Nürburgring . In the same year he started together with Dieter Quester and Alain Peltier for his first and only race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans , where he had to give up the race prematurely due to a fire.
At the end of 1976 he switched to Porsche-Kremer for one season and in 1977 drove a Porsche 935 in the sports car world championship in well-known races such as the Daytona 24-hour race . In the following years he did not start in the sports car world championship in 1978 and 1979 and focused mainly on the DRM and some races in 1979 in the Procar series .
In 1980 he left the DRM and only drove in the sports car world championship with a BMW 320i Turbo and two races in the Interseries with an Osella PA8 . In the following year he started only with Osella PA8 BMW in three races of the Interserie and in the German Sports Car Cup in 1981, which he won. Then he ended his racing career.
Today he runs a property developer and real estate company.
