Alain Peltier
Alain Peltier (born November 30, 1948 in Liège ; † January 5, 2005 in Hermalle-sous-Argenteau ) was a Belgian racing driver .
Racing career
Alain Peltier was a successful touring car driver in the 1970s . Between 1971 and 1977 he competed regularly in the European Touring Car Championship . In the 1972 Monza 4-hour race , he finished on the podium of the top three for the first time. He shared second place with his compatriot and team partner Jean Xhenceval . The emergency vehicle was a BMW 2800 CS . In Monza he also achieved his first victory in a championship run. In 1974 he won the race with Jean-Louis Lafosse in a BMW 3.0 CSL. In the same year came his greatest success in an international endurance race . In 1974 the Spa-Francorchamps 24-hour race was part of the Belgian touring car championship and ended with the overall victory of Jean Xhenceval, Pierre Dieudonné and Peltier in the Luigi-BMW 3.0 CSL.
He had his best championship season in 1975 . Peltier formed a successful duo with Siegfried Müller Sr. , who won the drivers' championship in the European Championship after victories in Monza and Brno as well as several other good placements.
In 1975 he achieved his best position in the sports car world championship with third place overall in the 1000 km race in Spa-Francorchamps . His only start in the 24-hour race at Le Mans ended in 1976 with a car fire on the factory BMW 3.5 CSL. In the last few years of his career he was repeatedly entered in the 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps, where he once again achieved third place overall in 1978 with Patrick Nève in the BMW 530i .
